OBESITY TREATMENT THROUGH AYURVEDA
What is obesity?
The recent concern of the medical world is the growing case of obesity among the world population. A 2014 survey states that there are 600 million obese adult and 42 million obese children under 5 years.
Obesity is a medical condition of excess of body fat accumulation leading to ill health. An obese person needs to put forth more energy than a thin person even to do normal work. Obesity was considered as a symbol of prosperity in the medieval ages as it was seen only among the rich families.
The scale that is used to determine obesity is the BMI calculator but it was found by European.The body structures of European are much different from the Asians, Africans and Native Americans. Asians generally have a plump figure where as Africans and Native Americans have well built strong bony structures so their bone weight is more. Therefore the BMI used by Europeans cannot be applied to everyone.

of kapha dosha in the medho vaha sthroas which is characterized by

AYURVEDIC REMEDY FOR OBESITY
Mostly
patients walk in to get their weight reduced. After getting a detailed history
from the patient the treatments are decided.

In case of hormonal imbalances medicines are
given to correct the system first

If its genetic or hereditary then it’s difficult
to bring the weight down to the desired level so the patient is given
medications and advice's for a healthy life style i.e. fat and fit

Post delivery weight gain is a natural process
it must not be cut down immediately gradual weight loss will help the wellness
of the mom and child. Too much of dieting is to be avoided. After 6 months of
delivery ayurvedic treatments can be taken for reducing the weight.

Results of obesity treatments
- Usually with medications before panchakarma treatment along with diet there’s a loss of 2 kilo to the maximum in a week.
- During pancha karma there’s a weight loss of 7 to 5 kilos to the maximum and 3 kilos to the minimum in 7 days time
- During udwartanam there’s loss in inches around the abdomen, hands, thighs and buttock
- Internal medicines are advised as per patients body condition
- Dieting and yoga and work outs usually helps to tighten the muscles that are loosened and keeps the weight in check
DIET
- Drink only half glass of warm water in the morning without honey
- Have a heavy breakfast with a glass of milk before 9am
- 11am to 12pm have a glass of fruit juice or tender coconut water or buttermilk
- 1 pm to 2 pm have lunch consiting of a small serving of rice with salads vegetables or boiled country chicken or steamed fish and 1 ro
- 4pm to 5pm brown bread sandwich or green tea or fruit salad or boiled vegetables
- 7pm to 8pm dinner a glass of milk or a bowl of oats.
Food‘s that helps to reduce weight
- Buttermilk
- Use jaggery or honey instead of sugar
- 2 slices of papaya and pineapple daily
- 2 country eggs a week
- Rotis
- 1 small bowl of rice a day
- 2 glass of skimmed milk a day
- Green gram, horse gram and Bengal gram either sprouted or boiled
- If you love non vegetarian go for country chicken, fish and goat mutton either boiled steamed or curry twice a week
- Chikoo, custard apple, guava, apple, pomegranate, water melon are good for staying fit and healthy
- All vegetables that are red and green
- Poha is a good snack with resins and nuts
- Green tea
- In case you have acidity problem go for boiled vegetables instead of raw salad
Foods to Avoid to reduce weight
- Maida
- Potato
- Curd
- Broiler chicken
- Red meat
- Lamb
- Deep fried foods
- Oil roasted foods
- Junk food like pizza, burger
- Chat foods like pani poori and bhel poori
- Coffee
- Alcohol
- Pickles
- Artificial sweeteners
DO’S AND DONT'S TO REDUCE WEIGHT
- Do not sleep during day time
- Do not sleep immediately after a meal
- Do not over eat
- Do not binge eat
- Eat only when you are hungry
- Early to bed and early to rise
- Exercise daily in the morning and evening at least for half an hour
- Be active and happy
- Every half an hour change your sitting position and walk around for 30 seconds
- Do not control the natural urges of urination and defecation.
